Round 6 Driver Quotes

Florian Gruber (#28 Fischer Racing Ford GT) - 1st Place
"Yes, we are really happy with this result.  Yesterday we had a big problem with our engine, the same as in Italy, but today it was perfect.  Yesterday the engine broke and we needed a new engine before this race.  I had a terrible start, I didn't see the safety car in the last corner and when I got onto the straight nobody was there.  The conditions were very heavy; we have no traction control, the traction control is my right foot! It was really hard for the first three or four laps, I brought the car in 6th to give to Christoffer."

Christoffer Nygaard (#28 Fischer Racing Ford GT) - 1st Place
"It was a little bit difficult to know where all the cars were.  I came out of the pits in a gap behind the Porsche, I didn't know if we were on the same lap but he went into the pits.  Afterwards I saw an Aston Martin and I tried to catch him.  I was catching him up at about one second a lap I think, he blocked me on the two straights.  There were a lot of blue flags and I thought he might have been a lap down and the flags were for him. I then tried to overtake by outbraking him into the last cornerbut he turned in, I think he saw me a little bit too late and I hit him on the rear wheel.  It was crazy with no blue flags; there was some blue flags but it seemed that people didn't respect them and everyone was on the one line.  I thought there may have been a safety car but there wasn't so I just went for it.  He [Nicolas Armindo] went to overtake some of the traffic, he went on the outside and I saw a hole on the inside, so I just went for it.  The first I knew that we'd won was when we stood on the podium."

Cesar Campanico (#32 Team Rosberg Audi R8 LMS) - 2nd Place
"My start was OK, I was in a group so I didn't lose a lot.  I took it carefully, the plan was to end my laps in a good position so Nicolas could attack at the end.  I don't like to be so slow on the damp track but our setting was very difficult to drive with understeer, so I just kept the car on the track and handed the car in fifth place to Nicolas. He did a fantastic job like he did in Silverstone.  He was beaten on the last lap but that's racing."

Nicolas Armindo (#32 Team Rosberg Audi R8 LMS) - 2nd Place
"Like Cesar said we had the setting for the end of the race and I could push very hard right from the beginning.  I think I did a good race and it was only the few laps that were a big nightmare.  I can only say that my team won the race this weekend, Cesar won this race. For me it didn't make sense to take a risk to overtake a car, if the car has a penalty or a blue flag, of course I tried to overtake the car under the blue flag but nobody respected the rules.  We should be in a good place in the championship after this weekend, of course Adria is missing and the Aston Martin team is doing a very good job, they are very strong."

Julien Rodrigues (#3 Hexis Racing AMR Aston Martin DBRS9) - 3rd Place
"I had a good run but during the first part of the race it was difficult because the track was in mid condition and we didn't know if we could push hard or not.  When the track was dry the car was much better.  We changed at about 30 minutes, we are a very good partnership and very similar drivers.

Thomas Accary (#3 Hexis Racing AMR Aston MArtin DBRS9) - 3rd Place
"We had a very good car today, I was able to push, push, push.  I'm really happy for the championship, we've taken points at every race and it is very good for us and for the team."

Csaba Walter (#24 Alpina BMW Alpina B6 GT3) - DNF
"The car was very good and we were expecting a podium finish, but then this happened. The accident was two different things; first I could not overtake a backmarker and it was a big problem.  Second, on the last corner the Audi, which was behind me, hit me really, really hard in the back on the right side, and I ended up in the wall.  It was a big impact, I couldn't do anything.  I am OK.  This weekend was a big step forward, as you could see in the qualifying and in the race, the car was much better, it was really competitive and this is why this situation is a big disappointment for us."

Marc Besseng (#19 Mühlner Motorsport Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S) - 5th place
"It was really tough first stint for me. I had a really good start to take the lead but I had the problem with the rear engined car which didn't get the front tyres to work in the first laps.  Everytime on the right hand corner into the back straight I had huge understeer, I went out a little bit and the Alpina overtook me on horse power.  On the next lap I was once again running wide at that corner, I lost traction and I lost three places.  After that the race came to me a little bit, the lap times were good, but I couldn't attack for position.  I think I went into the pits in P4 and my teammate did his best, but he had the same problem with the front tyres; maybe the temperature was too low for our car today.  We were the best Porsche and we have to be happy with that."

Chris Dymond (#35 MP Racing BMW Alpina B6 GT3) - 20th place
"It was pretty physical out there.  With the safety car starting the race everyone was a bit close.  I saw the accident on the TV screen and Gilles (Vannelet) had zero contact with him [Csaba Walter], it was the Audi that turned him. Alpina weren't very happy but it wasn't our fault."
